"Beijing Tourism Development Report 2014", a green book on Beijing tourism compiled by the Beijing Tourism Society and published by the Social Science Literature Press, was released on June 30. The report points out that in recent years, due to multiple factors, the number of inbound tourists in Beijing has shown a continuous decline, with the decline exceeding the national average in 2013, affecting the realization of inbound tourism goals in Beijing's "12th Five Year Plan" tourism plan.
The Green Book points out that since 2008, the number of domestic tourists in Beijing has shown a steady upward trend, while the gap between the number of foreign tourists and the number of domestic tourists is large, with slow growth and a downward trend after 2012. For Beijing, the number of inbound tourists in 2013 was 4.501 million, a year-on-year decrease of 10%, accounting for less than 2% of the total tourism reception in Beijing, which is far from the positioning of "World Tourism City".
The Green Book also pointed out that although both the number of inbound tourists and foreign exchange income from tourism declined year-on-year, in terms of quality and efficiency, the proportion of foreign exchange income from tourism in Beijing in 2013 was 4.2 times that of its number, with a per capita cost of $1065, a year-on-year increase of 3.6%. Among them, shopping consumption significantly increased, and inbound tourism remains the most contributing component of the Beijing tourism sector.
